This year we stayed home for Easter for the first time ever that we have lived in Utah...although we missed seeing family it was such a fun weekend. We started it off early Saturday morning by going down to the baseball fields for an egg hunt. Before it even started they gave every kid a bag of candy and then they divided them into different age groups. Then they said go and all the kids ran and tried to get as many boiled eggs as they could. If they were one of the lucky ones to find a plastic one they got an extra prize...we didn't get one but the girls still had fun.
After that we headed to the grocery store and the girls got to decorate sugar cookies and get their picture taken with the Easter bunny.
After that we headed to the Dinosaur Museum with some friends for another egg hunt. It was free and quick and the girls all had a good time. They were able to collect as many plastic eggs as they could while walking through the museum and at the end they turned them in for a little prize. It was fun.
When we came home and June was down for nap Molly and Annie colored eggs. I know that sometimes this can be a pain and most of the time the eggs go to waste but they sure love doing it.
Later on that day Jake was cleaning his truck and I had to go to the store but the weather was so beautiful so I introduced the girls to their own egg hunts. I remember doing it as a child with my siblings. We would take the boiled eggs and hide them for each other over and over...I think Molly and Annie did this for over two hours. It was fun to watch them and to have them stay busy.
Here are a whole slew of pictures of the girls in their Easter dresses. I know there are a ton but I just love their different faces and I think they are super cute.
After church and a delicious Easter dinner Jake and I hid a few eggs for the girls and let them hunt them. They loved it and took it very seriously.
June was quite happy carrying her basket around...
and even happier when she realized what was in the eggs.
This girl loves putting on any and every shoe she can find. This day she found Molly's snow boots...haha.
We had such a perfect and fun weekend. The girls were so great as we talked about the real reason for Easter and there were many prayers said asking for help to remember what was important about Easter. I love that although our girls love the fun stuff about these holidays that they do understand there is more to them then that. I am so grateful for our Savior and for the Atonement and that because of Him we can all return to our Heavenly Father again some day.
Other than Jake telling me only a couple hours before he was leaving that he had to go to North Dakota for the week it was all wonderful.
